Are the workshops pre-recorded and can I watch them at any time?
No. We do not believe in having you watch pre-recorded sessions which prevent you from asking questions, interacting with an instructor, or even staying awake! Our workshops are live. They are energizing and inspiring. We believe this is a necessary component to your success – and we care about your success!
I am planning on doing a thorough debrief. Why do I need someone else to mark my cases?
Separating yourself from the marking process is critical. While there may be some value in self-assessing and attempting to determine the grading of your case on your own, this keeps you from reaping the benefits of learning from someone else with experience doing this for you. If you compare your case to the marking guide, you may think, “Well, that’s what I meant,” or, “I think what I said relates to this,” and consequently, may overestimate how well you did. Conversely, you may be overly critical of yourself and underestimate your performance. Having an independent expert set of eyes assessing your case ensures that any personal bias, whether positive or negative, is eliminated.

Yes! We know that you will walk away from our workshops with improved skills. We also know that you might want to check in with one of our coaches to make sure that you’re on the right track. Why does TopPrep offer set marking packages?
We believe that practice is the name of the game. We believe that you can become a great case writer, but it will take practice. This entails getting MORE THAN ONE CASE marked. Our starter package includes the minimum number of cases that we believe you’ll need professional feedback on to improve. Not only that, but we select the specific cases that will best help you hone your case-writing skills. You will receive a schedule of the cases you’ll need to submit for marking once you sign up for the marking package.
My friend/colleague is going to mark my practice cases. What would be the benefit in getting my cases marked professionally?
While their intentions may be good, a friend or colleague may lack the necessary marking experience to provide feedback that’s value-adding, actionable, and accurate. Having your cases graded by an expert with CFE case-marking experience ensures that the feedback you get is as useful as possible. Professional markers have the proven ability to exercise judgment effectively, which is a key aspect of properly marking competency-based cases.
Plus, a friend or colleague may not be as willing to provide constructive feedback to you as an independent person would, and may be too lenient in their marking. As a result, you may not get a proper indication of your performance, and will lose out on the chance to learn and improve. A professional marker provides an independent perspective that offers positive and constructive feedback with “no strings attached.” As an aspiring CPA, this is what you need to develop and hone the skills necessary for success.
Does TopPrep provide a study plan?
After each workshop, we’ll provide you with guidance on the next steps you’ll need for success. Specifically, coming out of one-on-one coaching sessions, we will provide each candidate with a detailed study plan based on their unique experiences, education, and circumstances.
